Thomas J. Martin, M.D., died in Providence on June 8, 2022. He was born May 4, 1931 to the late Thomas J. Martin and Alma (Brodeur) Martin of Central Falls. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1948, Providence College in 1952, and New York Medical College, then located in Manhattan, in 1956. Dr. Martin performed his internship at the Flower and 5th Avenue Hospital in New York City. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during 1958 and 1959 in Butzbach, Hesse, in West Germany, attaining the rank of Captain. He practiced general medicine in Pawtucket, at his office on Central Avenue and at Memorial Hospital, until his retirement in the early 1990s.

Dr. Martin is predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Jenkins) Martin, his sisters, Ursula (Martin) Fontaine of Cumberland and Alma Claire (Martin) Roberts of Worcester, his daughter, Kathleen Ann Martin of Pawtucket, and his son, Douglas M. Martin of Attleboro, MA. He is survived by two sons, Stephen J. Martin, Ph.D., of Pawtucket and Daniel J. Martin, M.D., of Dartmouth, MA, and a daughter, Beth Ann Ferruche of Pawtucket, as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, June 12th from 3:00 – 6:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00a.m. in Saint John Paul II Church, (formerly Saint Cecilia's Church), 1253 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
